If I was a fan of any program other than Auburn, I would agree. But Richt, for some reason, has been bending Auburn over long enough. We need a UGA coach we can beat for a change.

"But as we learned from Chizik and (so far) Malzahn, having a bunch of 4 and 5 star recruits means nothing if you can't coach them."

Chizik has done a bang-up job with UNC's defense this year...

Just think how Tennessee feels. According the game report, they've lost 9 straight to Bama and have lost 24 straight to top 10 teams...
Meh. We're in the SEC...losing 24 in a row to the top 10 is four seasons of football. Whereas in the ACC.. that would take you back to WWII..

Wow, a Tennessee fan comparing themselves to an ACC school? I knew you guys had fallen off, but I didn't realize it was that bad. Ouch...

Embarrassing.

Of course, UNC beat Tennessee in a fairly recent bowl game, so I guess it's not a stretch for Tennessee fans to think of themselves as ACC caliber these days...

That's funny right there.

He's an excellent DC. Just a terrible HC.

Aubie's got one of those. Boom!

If you are referring to Muschamp, he wasn't a very good HC at Florida, and he isn't doing that great as a DC at Auburn either either.

Chizik was the DC hire that Muschamp was supposed to be.

If Mizzou doesn't field a football team, maybe UGA will have a chance at winning the SECe.

I think Tennessee and Florida will be the beasts of the east next year. While the Vols have lost a couple that maybe they shouldn't have this year, they are headed in the right direction. And it grieved me to see Florida hire Coach Mc. He is sooo solid. I had hoped that we would scoop him up when Saban retired.

I've heard a lot of UGA people say Smart will be the leading candidate whenever Richt leaves. (If history is a guide, that may be long after Saban retires.)

Smart will do okay. I think he copies Saban's process to the letter (like Mcelwain) - as opposed to other former Saban assistants who tried to make it something of their own (see: Muschamp, Dooley).

You can even see a lot of the Saban "process" in what Fisher does, scheme and recruiting wise.

As I've said before, Smart must have skin like a rhinoceros and a stomach of iron. Saban is reported to be an SOB to work for, and Smart has been working for him for a long time. Dealing with a whining fan base like Georgia's would be a piece of case for him.
