DooKSucks wrote: Tue Feb 13, 2024 2:20 pm On another note, I'm taking the family to Disney for a week in April, and holy fuck. I decided to stay onsite, do all of the stuff a four year old who still believes this stuff would want to do, and not skimp without being extravagant. This shit is going to cost me $15k (including what will be spent during the trip) before it is finished. Fuck me.
Don't stay on site. Its not worth it. What the Polynesian? The Contemporary? The Swan? Not worth it. They are just hotel rooms, they suck. You are an attorney, you deserve far more than a damn hotel room for a week vacation.

Seriously DS, just rent a timeshare week from an owner who isn't using it. You can find about 1000 timeshare units just one mile away from the Disneyworld property. You can probably get a 3 bedroom in April for 7 days for $1000 in rent. Go to Wal-Mart supercenter on International Blvd and load up on breakfast food and snacks for the kids, and they can get all the souvenirs they want there for a couple hundred bucks. And if you want to do a meal with the characters, book breakfast at EPCOT at the Land. That is like $150 depending on how many kids you bring. I think that is the cheapest way to see the characters.

Disneyworld is sucking wind right now. They went "woke" and they alienated their biggest customer base (conservative, white, intact, nuclear families) so that leaves leftists and your families to pay all their bills. You should be able to cut much better deals than just staying on sight and paying Disney sticker price for whatever they say is not skimping. One week? I'll bet you could do the whole thing for $3 grand (without skimping) if you drive down to Orlando from North Carolina. If you fly, five grand including a rental car.

When I started having back problems a few years ago, they found an old compression fracture in my L1 vertebrae that had healed up some time ago. I always wonder if I did that when I jumped off the roof at a party in Greenville when I was 21....

She's clearly trying out for the WWE ladies league. And furthermore I doubt she had any serious injury. Perfectly done.

back to Disney

I've stayed on site, rented a condo and rented a house with a pool

I think the Condo option was the best - the condo we rented was part of the Marriott hotel chain, the complex was massive, so it had swimming pools and a food court with the standard fare of fast food options. It was so big we rented a golf cart to get around - no loofahs hanging off the mirror. Of course staying onsite at Disney was more convenient but I liked leaving the park and being able to eat at restaurants. I think we went to Medieval Times one night.

The last trip we went on, I bought a book on making the most out of your Disneyworld vacation. It was worth whatever I paid for it many times over. The first thing we did was devise a strategy on how to spend the day in each park. For the main park, essentially you'd start at the back of the park and work your way to the front using fast pass on rides. It also walked you thru when to make reservations. I'm not kidding when I say this, we picked the least busiest time of the year, on the least busiest day of the week and with that park strategy, we had ridden every ride we wanted to by 2PM that day. That was a year where I invited 3 of my wife's sisters to go with us and they were giving me shit about my schedule but in the end they were amazed at how much we did.

I think Cinderellas castle you had to get on the phone the day reservations opened, like 6 months before to book, so I was calling at 8am 6 months to the day when we were arriving. Similar with character breakfast at Animal Kingdom. Also the book told you about the best restaurants and when to eat. I remember one that had a view of its a small world that not many people knew about. It was so long ago I don't really remember the details of it. At Epcot, we got a table next to the aquarium wall at the Coral Reef restaurant - all because that book walked us thru what to do.

This could also apply to your proclivity for midget porn...

and then one would want to stop at a gift shop and I'd be like THERES NO TIME FOR THAT DAMMIT!
