I personally think the unis of those other leagues look like trash. I would personally never buy a jersey that was littered with all that stuff and I fully agree that brand has everything to do with it. I hate most of the Raps unis they have thrown out there but I believe the jerseys of any team are greatly diminished when you add clutter. I would take a plain old Raps jersey any day of the week over one that had crap printed all over it.

I guess it depends on how many of them you sell vs. how much you can sell it to a company for. I can't imagine the teams bklyn mentioned as being in a favourable position at the end of it all. I think it could only benefit the teams who aren't selling any jerseys but are able to find a company looking for an in road into the NBA. They would overpay to get into the game. and if you aren't selling any jerseys, then obviously a hand out would work well for that team. But I think that's a short term gain as the brand of the team's that don't get sponsors probably just increases.

Pat Riley. Pat Rye e lee. Isn't he that guy that starred for that basketball team with the racist coach that lost in the finals to a bunch of poor basketball players from West Texas who didn't even have shoes to play in?

You are correct. But he's from Schenectady - a center of the Underground Railroad.

I hated old scrotum scalp when he played for Dook and Ginobili retiring gives Danny Green an opportunity for more playing time. So it's a win-win for me...

post-game analysis & fines

if I'm Battier, I negotiate ingame flops as a bonus incentive into my contract to offset the fines

SS Battier graduated from Dook in 2001, doesn't seem like a terribly long NBA career for him. He was a serviceable pro, certainly had value as a 7th or 8th man and a good guy to have around in practice. Seems like he could've hung around a few more years and pulled down at least a couple mil per, to be sure he was making at least that much the past few years. I suspect he'll go into broadcasting...

Welp, according to this NBA stats page, Battier has pulled down over $50 mil in his career. He'll be fine...

I figured if Brendan Haywood, who is the same age as Battier, is still pulling down $7 mil a year, Battier could still do pretty well, too...

Battier was better than expected during his peak years. Smart player and worked his strengths to the maximum (and he never caused any problems anywhere, which made him easy to keep around without a clearly better alternative).

With that said, you know I was joking about his retirement, right? The NBA is going to fine guys who flop and Scrotum Scalp is a master at it...so much so I was saying he'll just retire rather than taking the salary hits (although the players get to claim the charitable deduction on their taxes for the fines they incur).
