Syd the Kid (Odd Future DJ...who I also think is Tyler the Creator's sister) and other OFWGFTK peeps have a 80s style funk band...and I like what they're doing. A whole lot better than the other stuff coming from Odd Future, for my personal taste.

My son in the ministry's neo-funk/fusion/hip-hop/r&b group (he's the lead with the braids). Not my cup of tea but they have a following in Brooklyn and Philly - he's there several times a year for gigs.

clever sample rmix by jazzy jeff, he extends the sample an extra bar on the drop beat, basically combines ultramagnetic mc's with potholes in my lawn

NYC hip hop has taken a hit, and it looks especially bad when dudes like ASAP Rock rap like their from the south
My love for hip hop is deep rooted in NYC, that's where I first heard it, that's where my love is - I've said it over & over, nothing beats NYC hip-hop from 85 - 95
