two donors have given $4m to the NIL fund in support of hiring Pope. The AD clearly had some feelers out if there would be support for this hire.

I think the only thing Kentucky fans want out of the next coach is what real fans of every team want, nothing but national championships. So if Pope can do that, then they will be happy. For Calipari it was always, what-have-you-done-for-me-lately?

I watched the first bit of the welcome / announcement, and it was easily some of the most cornpone crap I have seen in years. I’m sure the Kentuckians ate it up, but I am glad I am not part of a fanbase that acts like a bunch of rubes getting ready to throw money at the latest televangelist scam artist. I get that such a description doesn’t cover everyone in the fan base, and folks like eCat and Blue have my respect. Still, that was painful shit to watch.
