Same reason a nude, ignorant, and immortal Adam and a nude, ignorant, and immortal Eve were allowed to do as they wish in Eden with the exception of eating fruit from the tree of knowledge. He put the tree there and commanded of them not to eat of it. He gave the two of them free will same as He gives it to you and I. We make of that what we will.
Ok see, now you lost me. I thought we came from monkeys

You are telling me. I am working as hard as I can to find a way to help these two kids and I can't find it.
T Dot O Dot wrote:it sounds like she's cool with it, so if this thing doesnt work out and she gets over it, she'll have no problem remarrying?
She wants to remarry right now. She didn't want to get divorced in the first place.

Wasn't up to her. We have No Fault Divorce (man's law) and husband number one divorced her. What she wanted made no difference. That is No Fault.

So now she wants to remarry, but because she believes in the literal interpretation of the Bible, I can't see how she can. Through no fault of her own, her mortal life on this Earth is one of celebacy until the death of her ex-spouse.

Clearly, the woman needs to kill her ex. Or they could just choose another mythology to embrace. Either way, problem solved.
Funny guy.

Unfortunately humor doesn't help me in this situation. This young man is about to ask for the ring back, he doesn't see any other way. He is deeply Christian.
i'd just ask myself....what would jesus do?

Obviously, these aren't Catholics we're talking about.

Was the first husband a Christian? How was the ceremony conducted? They could be unevenly yoked and the marriage was not a true Christian marriage.

I am 1,000 miles away from a theologian, though. So, all I'm saying could be a bunch of BS. Take that for what it's worth.

If you are dead serious, then he truly does not love her. He can piss and moan all about his eternal soul but the bible has more flip-flops and contradictions in it then a Stephen King novel.

Does he only eat fish on Friday? Is she a virgin? Will his next wife be one? How can he be sure? Has he EVER stolen from anyone even as a kid?

And you can spout all you want about "God's word" but keep this in mind. MAN wrote it down. Man is by nature flawed and corrupt.

If he truly loves her, then as husband and wife they can move on together and work their whole lives to show how much they love God and try to make up for the "sinning" they are doing.

And if not, this might be a break for her to not want to marry this nutjob.

That's great news. Satan's plan to keep idiots like this from reproducing is working...

A kid I grew up with because our families were close has been moved to hospice. He's 40 but still a kid to me. Melonima cancer. I guess as you get older you see more of this stuff. Just went to a funeral last week for a 47 year old funny lady who dropped dead of an annurism. Makes you wonder what happens when its your time.

I can only hope but knowing my ex she already has a deal with both God & Satan to make my afterlife as painful as a UT football fan.

Seems to me a heroin overdose is the only truly painless way to go. Or maybe starvation. Starvation would be unpleasant at first, but once you get over the hump, I bet the last few weeks aren't bad. Probably just start tripping your ass off...

He passed early Saturday morning. I got to visit but he wasn't awake. The kid put up a nice 2 year fight and never lost his humor or spirit. He inspired many and that's the legacy he should be the most proud of.
