Rare words, but it has to be said....Somebody in the $EC did the right thing.

Arkansas went 21-5 the last two years under Petrino.

If they replace him with a second rate coach, and Arkansas returns to its usual second rate status in the SEC, then the powers that be in Fayetteville will regret this sudden burst of moral idealism.

All she needs to do is claim she was sexually harassed into her relationship with Petrino, and sue the university, then settle out of court for six figures. She'll collect at least as much cash as Petrino lost.

You think she can get $9 mill out of this?

Maybe with the right lawyer. After all, he was her boss and clearly pressured her against her will into a romantic relationship. It was practically rape. The university obviously failed to adequately supervise him; they stood idly by and did nothing. They are also at fault for this tragedy and should pay accordingly.

Her reputation has now been ruined for life too. She always wanted to be a doctor, but now that dream is dashed. How much does a neurosurgeon make in a lifetime? She deserves every penny of that, to help her pick up the pieces and find a new dream.

There was probably also a lot of pain and suffering involved in having sex with Petrino, and that agony must be compensated. Her boyfriend can probably sue for lack of consortium too.

She won't get jack out of this. If she was an 18 year old intern maybe...chalk it up to youth and being seduced by a 51 year old perv...but she is 25 years old and after a money grab to begin with. She won't get jack shit. Petrino shouldn't get jack shit. They are both pieces of shit.

At minimum, she'll get a six figure out of court settlement just to go away, a book deal, movie rights, and according to the laws of Arkansas, will be declared Petrino's legal cousin.

She's got no case. She accepted an improper $20,000.00 cash payment and cheated on her fiance who coached the swim team. Whores don't get verdicts from conservatice juries, especially ones in Arkansas where she may be viewed as responsible for bringing down the Coach and Program. She's got no case and no leverage. Her fiance, however, will get a nice severance package and a good coaching position elsewhere to sign a confidentiality agreement and waiver of suit.

Petrino was a fine coach. For that reason, I'm glad he left Arkansas, so that they can return to their usual mediocrity.

If I were an Arkansas fan, I'd strongly consider Tubby to replace Petrino. He had a lot of success in the SEC, and even won a Peoples' Choice NC in '04. He was a shaky recruiter and his offenses were usually suspect, but his defenses were always excellent. His teams were always better than the sun of their parts. He had a great record against all our rivals. Bama still fears The Thumb.

They wont hire a guy who has been in the headlines more for off the field stuff in Lubbock than he has for his football team's play.

I think the thumb thing has kinda been erased.

Alabama has beaten Auburn twice in a row. If you win three more Iron Bowls in a row, then Thumb will be erased.

We haven't beaten Auburn twice in a row since '09... Tommy won five in a row plus one. I do expect that we've started a new streak of wins with 2011 though.

I did like Tommy's audacity holding up seven fingers in '08. It just wasn't the seven he was hoping for.

I think you'll win in 2012. After that, the talent advantage you previously enjoyed, will be completely erased, and the series will about 50/50.

Rumor is that Petrino has applied to become a Secret Service Agent...but they said he was overqualified.
